Just a short update as we are finally settling in our Jerusalem home base and trying to catch up a little on rest after a long day of travel. This afternoon, we braved the holiday crowds at Machane Yehuda (Jerusalem Market) for lunch and to stock up on freshly baked rugelach, fruit, and other goodies for Shavuot and Shabbat.

There, we were very moved to meet up with CDS alumni Ari Gilboa (Class of 2016) and Naomi Kitchen (Class of 2017), who are both currently serving in the IDF. They are also both veterans of the Community Day School 8th Grade Israel Trip (you’ll find their faces throughout earlier blog posts!) and excited for the adventures that await their younger siblings on this year’s trip.

Tonight, we will head to the Kotel to begin our celebration of Shavuot and the delivery of the Torah to the Jewish people at Mt. Sinai. No cameras allowed after sunset, but we’ll share the experience in words and impressions after the holiday.
Chag Shavuot Sameach, CDS friends and family!
